The F9800 is a Gen III 18mm image intensi er manufactured by Harris Corporation. The F9800 (MX10160 type) is the most widely used image intensi er and is found in the AN/AVS-6 & 9 Aviators Night Vision Imaging Systems (ANVIS), most Gen III weapon sights, and many different goggles and monocular systems. The F9800 consists of a high ef ciency GaAs photocathode bonded to a glass input window, a microchannel plate (MCP) current ampli er, and a P-43 phosphor screen deposited on an inverting ber optic output window.
The F9810 is a Gen III 18mm image intensi er manufactured by Harris Corporation. The F9810 (MX10130 type) is used in the AN/PVS-7, B, C & D binocular series of night vision goggles along with a few weapon sights. The F9810 consists of a high ef ciency GaAs photocathode bonded to a glass input window, a microchannel plate (MCP) current ampli er, and a P-43 phosphor screen deposited on a ber-optic output non-inverting window.
The F9815 is a Gen III 18mm image intensi er manufactured by Harris Corporation. The F9815 (MX11769 type) is used in the AN/PVS-14 night vision monocular and several weapon sights and goggles. The F9815 consists of a high ef ciency GaAs photocathode bonded to a glass input window, a microchannel plate (MCP) current ampli er, and a P-43 phosphor screen deposited on an inverting ber-optic output window.
The Gen III photocathode is very sensitive to low radiation levels of visible and, especially, near infrared light. Tube lifespan is an average of 12,000 hours of continuous use. All tubes come with a tube data sheet listing the speci cations below. These speci cations are the most critical to the actual tube performance, as no two tubes are exactly alike. All of the speci cations listed below apply to these image tube types unless otherwise speci ed.
